DAY 1

Mother of Two Under Two - Day 1 Without Help

I have been a mother of two kids for three whole weeks now, but I've decided today counts as the first day. My amazing mom took three whole weeks off to help me when Leo was born. Cute Husband also had the afternoons free during Christmas Break. As hard as those first three weeks were (no sleep, adjusting toddler with the flu, pain, lots of bodily fluids...) I knew I had help. Nothing could prepare me for my first day on my own. I am out-numbered.

To keep my spirits up through this challenging year, I decided to write the occasional post on successes and "stuff that will be funny in ten years but makes me burst into sobs right now." I may include the occasional video and photo as well, so you can share in my successes and sobs.

Here we go.

Day 1

SUCCESSES

  •  All three of us were bathed and fed breakfast before 2:00pm.
  • I put makeup on today.
  • I fit in pre-pregnancy pants. (I took them off and put on cozy leggings, but they were officially on me for 10 whole minutes!)
  • When David came home we successfully analyzed each room and got rid of anything Tessie could potentially mame herself with while I am feeding Leo. We also installed a baby gate at the bottom the stairs.
  • All my electronics survived an entire water bottle being dumped on them.
  • We ate dinner before 10:00pm.
  • Both kids put to bed on time without complaint.
  • I didn't launder any remote controls today.

THINGS THAT WILL BE FUNNY SOMEDAY:
  • Three hours of sleep last night, in one-hour chunks.
  • Tessie peed on the bathroom floor while I was turning on the shower water.
  • Tessie got the flu back. LOTS of poop.
  • Thousands of Fruity Pebbles spilled on the floor while I was feeding the baby.
  • Cell phone thrown at baby's head.
